US Citizens, upon establishing residency in foreign country, are able to take advantage of “Foreign Earned Income Exclusion” provision.
US Citizens are taxed on their income, wherever they live and work. The only exemption is that non-resident US Citizens (US Citizens living abroad) can have tax free income up to a certain amount each year. This tax free income tariff varies each year. In 2015, it was $100,800 and it increased to $101,300 in 2016 and $102,100 in 2017. So, a US husband & wife can set up company in UAE and both can earn salary tax free up to 102,100 X 2.
Note: To qualify for the Foreign Earned Income exclusion, US Citizen should be bona fide resident of a foreign country
