Types of Ownership

1. FREEZONE ESTABLISHMENT (FZE):

The licenses under those category shall be issued by virtue of Emiri Decree No. 3 of 1988, as amended by Emiri Decree No. 3 of 1996. By virtue of the said decree, the establishment enjoys an entirely independent corporate entity. The minimum capital of the establishment is $ 50,000 and the owner is liable within the extent of the capital only.

2. FREEZONE COMPANY (FZC):

The licenses under this category shall be issued by virtue of Emiri Decree No. 3 of 1988, as amended by Emiri Decree of 1996. By virtue of the said decree, the company is incorporated by a number of natural or corporate persons. The minimum capital of the company is $ 50,000 and the owners are liable within the extent of the paid up capital only.

3. BRANCH OF A LOCAL COMPANY:

Licenses under this category are issued to the freezone companies holding a valid license from any other UAE licensing authority.

4. BRANCH OF A FOREIGN COMPANY:

Licenses under this category are issue to companies established outside the UAE. The ownership of the company will be 100% foreign. However, sales can be made through a UAE registered agent or distributor only. The activity may be commercial, industrial or professional/services.
